The Newborn Care Centre is a forty-four (44) bed, Level 6 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit specializing in pre-term surgery where staff help care for over 1,000 babies each year. The Registered NurseMidwife will be required to work in all areas of the Newborn Care Centre with support provided by Nursing Educators and Clinical Nurse Consultants with in-house education and skill development opportunities available for all staff. Staff within the Newborn Care Centre work a rotating roster with a twelve (12) hour shift pattern. This position is available to a registered midwife with an interest in women™s health or a registered nurse. One position will be filled from the following 2 options 1. part time 30hrsweek Registered Nurse or Midwife to work predominantly in Early Pregnancy Assessment Service (EPAS) or 2. a full time midwife to rotate throughout the midwifery clinics within WHAC including EPAS. Where youll be working WHAC provides antenatal and gynaecology services in an outpatient setting. WHAC provides antenatal and gynaecology services in an outpatient setting. Pregnancy care is provided to all levels of risk and service provision includes a Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit, Pregnancy Day Assessment Service, Early Pregnancy Assessment Service (EPAS) and obstetric and midwifery clinics. Midwifery Clinics also run at Chatswood Community Centre and Ryde Hospital. Gynaecological care is provided in oncology, colposcopy, LLETZ, minor procedure and general gynaecology clinics. EPAS is a nursemidwifery led discrete service within WHAC providing clinical review for pregnancies less than 20 weeks. Ongoing care and monitoring of women is part of the service. Hours of employment at 07.30-14.00 Monday to Friday. Should you be a RM who will rotate through the WHAC service, the hours are 07.30-16.00 or 11.00-19.30 Monday to Friday. Support is provided by a NMUM, an educator team, a perinatal mental health team and allied health staff. Staff are encouraged to work in other areas of WHAC for professional development with appropriate support. An ability to work independently and as part of the multidisciplinary team and competency in counselling is essential in both positions. What youll be doing To provide quality woman centred, effective, evidenced based midwifery care in accordance with the ANMC National Competency Standards for the Midwife (2006) and to supervise the work of others as required. The midwife will consult and liaise with obstetric, medical and other appropriate staff as per the ACM National Midwifery Guidelines for Consultation and referral (PD2010022) guidelines when deviations from the norm are identified.
