A day in the life of an Occupational Health Nurse at Complete Corporate Health (CCH) is unique and like no other and no two days are the same.  Providing high-quality direct client and patient care nursing activities over a full-range of Occupational Health Services.

As the Occupational Health Nurse you will be responsible for patient health nursing care and surveillance including triaging, wound treatment and dressing, testing - audiology, vision, spirometry and medicals such as musculoskeletal and fitness assessments. This role includes blood pressure monitoring, phlebotomy, cholesterol testing, vaccinations and urine testing.

The day-to-day tasks of the Occupational Health Nurse will focus on collecting samples for testing substance abuse, and performing tests, gathering vital signs, measurements and assessments in order to assist the clinic Doctors when conducting workplace medicals, as well as aiding Physicians with procedures when required. This role will involve working on your own initiative and may include site visits.

As a representative of the CCH Brand & Values, your day will be spent meeting patients, making them feel comfortable, and helping them with their medical, clinical and occupational care. The majority of your contact will be directly with patients, however there will be client communication via the injury management coordinators and HR staff, meaning you need to be flexible and able to context switch when required. 

You will be supported by a competent and well-trained team of clinical technicians who will make your high volume workload fun and manageable. You will also have frequent direct contact with our physiotherapy partners. · 

By delivering excellent care to patients, the person in this role needs to be trusted by management, patients and clients for their; clinical compliance; patient, client and other stakeholder consulting skills; and overall positive contribution to the Ascot and broader CCH team.

Qualifications

Essential

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role with high level of client/patient contact
  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration as a nurse practitioner
  • Occupational Health Nursing qualifications, experience or tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Immunisation certificate and CPR certification
  • WorkCover Audiometry and Spirometry qualified
  • Certified collector: AS4308:2008 (Urine Drug Testing)
  • (Basic/Intermediate) computer skills
  • Current Drivers Licence

Desirable

  • Health Services Permit knowledge – for medical treatment including immunisation services (Poisons Regulation 10AA) Government of Western Australia; Department of Health – Public Health.
  • Experience with dealing with WorkCover

  • Limited-term Part-time role (January 2021- January 2022) 0.4 FTE, 15.2 hours per week.
  • Providing Speech therapy services to clients within Senses Australia’s Disability Professional Services.
  • Reporting to the Therapy Coordinator.
  • Assess, plan and develop discipline specific programs and regimes relevant to client’s individual service plans.
  • Assess and prescribe adaptive and therapeutic equipment as required to meet individual client needs.

Essential criteria:

  • Bachelor of Science (Speech and Hearing Science) or equivalent and must be registered with Speech Pathology Australia and maintain yearly registration.
  • An understanding of communication, supports and resources available for people with complex communication needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to evaluate and adapt services as required.
  • Understanding and commitment to the Disability Services Standards.
  • Hold a National Police Clearance (obtained within the last 6 months).
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate (with at least 12 months before renewal).
  • Possession of a valid WA C Class driver’s license

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience working with people with disability.

  • Previous experience working with clients with disabilities and their families and caregivers.
  • Knowledge or experience with equipment and assistive technology.
  • Membership of the Australian Occupational Therapy Association and relevant special interest groups.
