Duties will include:

The role

Your New Role:

This is a unique opportunity to progress your Speech Pathology career. As a Senior Clinician, not only do you have your own small caseload, providing both assessments and therapeutic interventions to a variety of people of varying ages and abilities, you will also assist in the clinical support of graduate and junior clinicians across a range of areas. In collaboration with your supportive multidisciplinary team, you will be working with clients and their families and caregivers, many of whom have NDIS funding, both in the community setting and in our clinic spaces.

At Better Rehab, no two days are the same, though a typical day may involve:

  • Providing treatment to a variety of people who rely on you to improve their lives. You will assess their needs, design appropriate therapy plans, and advocate on their behalf. You may work with participants with a range of conditions including Autism, Post-Stroke and Parkinsons.
  • Supporting participants in the disability and neuro sector across a number of areas including adult and child language, social communication and swallowing/dysphagia by using a range of AAC devices.
  • Mentoring and guiding junior clinicians through the complexities of the NDIS, including the areas mentioned above
  • Collaborating with your multidisciplinary team consisting of Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Occupational Therapists and Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners to share knowledge and ideas
  • Celebrating “Weekly Wins” with your participants, their families, your colleagues, and your supportive Leadership Team
  • Attending formal and informal opportunities for networking and learning and development across a national level
  • Reviewing NDIS correspondence including reports from junior clinicians, whilst also directly reporting to the NDIS yourself

What you'll be doing
Apply sound analytical and problem solving capabilities with an understanding of coding conventions/standards/practice to abstract, interpret and convert minimally complex clinical documentation into ICD-10-AM codes at an acceptable productivity rate to accurately represent disease processes and procedures relating to inpatient episodes of care to enable funding, research, epidemiology and Service Planning

Selection Criteria:

  • Successful Completion of HIMAA Clinical Coding qualifications, currency of qualifications within last 2 years and evidence of coding proficiency in ICD-10-AM, with a minimum of 1 years coding experience across a range of DRGs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Casemix, Diagnostic Related Groups (DRGs), and Activity Based Funding (ABF) principles and an understanding of coding data quality initiatives.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of health information systems using clinical coding software, and the use of MS Office, specifically with Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Good organisational and time management skills with the ability to establish priorities to meet conflicting deadlines with minimal supervision to achieve effective outcomes.
  • Evidence of a current, unrestricted class C driver’s licence. Ability and willingness to travel for work purposes. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays as required.
